Watch now: This Means Love performances by Laure Prouvost and friends
16 June 2021
Challenging the conventional systems of linguistics and representation, This Means Love is a book in which Prouvost replaces emotive words and concepts with anthropomorphized objects, represented by her watercolour drawings for the audience to de-code and re-interpret. To celebrate the launch of the book with Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, we staged a 'Legsicon' lesson by Prouvost with readings of four new stories and texts using this object alphabet, commissioned from some of the authors and poets that feature in the publication: Dodie Bellamy, Paul Buck, Dana Munro and Maxine Kopsa. Hosted by Ossian Ward and Yolande Zola Zoli van der Heide, recorded Friday 11 June, 2021
The book is available online at our shop for the special price of $18 / £15 / €15, alongside limited edition tapestries by Prouvost.
This Means Love is published on the occasion of the exhibitions, Re-dit-en-un-in-learning CENTER at Lisson Gallery, London (6 October – 7 November 2020), and Swallowing breathing caring on the commons in our trapped love landscape excited to be with you, now newly extended as part of Positions 6: Bodywork at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (28 November 2020 – 26 September 2021).
