The Nine Muses by John Akomfrah screening at Institut Francais in London

On 25 January, John Akomfrah’s 2012 film The Nine Muses will be shown at the Institut Français’s Ciné Lumière, as part of its 'Before the Night' series of screenings. Divided into nine overlapping musical chapters echoing the nine Greek mythological muses and mixing a vast array of archival material, the film offers a modern recasting of Homer’s epic The Odyssey as a tone poem about journeys, migration, time and space, memory, the power of elegy and our relation to the environment.

The Nine Muses will screen at 6:20pm on Saturday 25 January. Tickets can be purchased via the Ciné Lumière website.
