Lisson Gallery at the inaugural DnA Shenzhen fair
27 September 2021
Lisson Gallery is delighted to announce its participation in the inaugural edition of DnA SHENZHEN fair, a new fair organised by the team behind ART021 in Shanghai and JINGART in Beijing.
Taking place at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning (MoCAUP) this September, Lisson Gallery’s presentation will focus on a select number of works by artists including Shirazeh Houshiary, Anish Kapoor, Christopher Le Brun, Jason Martin and Bernard Piffaretti.
For this occasion, Lisson is delighted to bring the work of Kapoor and Le Brun back to MoCAUP following the artists' debut exhibitions in Shenzhen earlier this year. After a comprehensive presentation at MoCAUP that showcased the breadth of his practice, Kapoor returns to Shenzhen with a stainless-steel sculpture Random Triangle Mirror (2015), a mosaic of highly reflective triangular fragments arranged in a geometric composition. Alongside this, Christopher Le Brun returns to Shenzhen after his exhibition 'Transcendence and Rén Jiān', presenting a diptych painting Cover Note (2019).
Bernard Piffaretti and Jason Martin launched their first solo shows in China at Lisson Gallery Shanghai this year. Piffaretti, the Paris-based artist who bases his practice on repetition while analysing the components of painting, will present an abstract yet gestural acrylic on canvas painting for the fair: Untitled (2020). Lisson’s booth will also highlight Martin’s rich painting practice through the vibrant work, Untitled (Fluorescent pink / Rosso laccato) (2021), demonstrating the artist’s focus on the beauty of impervious, rich colour with hypnotic swirling forms.
Complementing these, Shirazeh Houshiary exhibits for the first time in China’s technology capital with Parable (2020), a painting that captures motion in continuous movement by highlighting light and transparency.
DnA takes place from 30 September – 4 October.
