Laure Prouvost's 'It's a tragedy' to be performed at Nocturnal Creatures art festival
19 July 2019
This Saturday, Whitechapel Gallery will host their annual late-night contemporary art festival, Nocturnal Creatures, with a programme of installations, performances, music, film and culinary experiences taking place across a number of venues in London's east-end. Laure Prouvost’s performance work ‘It’s a tragedy’, will take place at the iconic Golden Heart pub in Spitalfields.First presented last year as part of the Live programme at Frieze London in 2018, this work sees opera singer Marie Vasconi perform fragments of overhead conversations from passers-by, seemingly spontaneously bursting into song. The work humorously exposes the intimacies of private exchanges and fictionalises them through Vasconi's interpretation.
The work will be performed at the Golden Heart from 6-10pm on Saturday 20 July. Find more information on the Nocturnal Creatures programme here.
