Jason Martin's collaboration with Dior launches at Art Basel Miami Beach

The House of Dior has invited Jason Martin and six other visual artists to take part in their Lady Art project. Each artist was given carte blanche to utilise their signature techniques and put their own spin on the iconic Lady Dior bag. The new series of artist-designed bags and accessories will launch at a Miami boutique during Art Basel Miami Beach (1 – 4 December 2016), before traveling to Los Angeles, Korea, London, China, Dubai and Paris.
Jason Martin, known for his richly textured, monochromatic paintings that oscillate between painting and sculpture, used his silver- and gold-plated reliefs as a starting point for his Dior Lady Art design. Martin, in an interview with W Magazine, says of the collaboration: “It was incredible... That’s the thing about positive collaborations—sometimes you discover something about the craft that can filter into the artistic work.” More of Martin's silver cast works can be seen as part of his new exhibition at Lisson Gallery, on view in London until 7 January 2017.
Other artists participating in Dior Lady Art project include Mat Collishaw, Ian Davenport, Daniel Gordon, Chris Martin, Matthew Porter and Marc Quinn.
