Garrett Bradley in conversation with Claudia Rankine
23 February 2022
On Tuesday 1 March, Garrett Bradley will be in conversation with poet, essayist and playwright Claudia Rankine in ‘Citizen Time: Recasting the Narrative’, hosted by Bucknell University.
Rankine’s most recent books brilliantly interweave poetry, essays, and visual art to interrogate what Americans will (and won’t) say about race, privilege, identity, and belonging. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Bradley juxtaposes archival material with newly shot footage, working across narrative, documentary, and experimental modes of filmmaking to address race, class, familial relationships, social justice, and cultural histories in the United States.
Acclaimed writer Chet’la Sebree will moderate a first-ever conversation between the two artists as they share work and discuss genre-disruption, truth-telling, and the state of the arts in America today.
A presentation of the Small Literary Arts Center Coalition (SLACC), comprising the Boutelle-Day Poetry Center at Smith College, the Rose O’Neill Literary House at Washington College, and the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts at Bucknell University.
