Exhibition by Richard Long opens at Chateau La Coste in Provence
2 August 2021
A new exhibition by Richard Long, Vallauris Clay Provençal Stones, is now open at Chateau La Coste near Aix-en-Provence, France. The exhibition is situated in the Old Winestore Gallery, situated at the heart of the Chateau's vineyard.
Long has created two site-specific pieces for the show, in response to the 200 square meter space and the surrounding region. On the gallery's floor is a work composed of three different types of local Provençal Stones, while a second installation of these stones can be found outside in the Chateau's grounds. Alongside a recent wall text work, on each of the gallery's 6 meter-high walls, are large works in the famous red Vallauris clay, once used by Picasso amongst other artists.
The exhibition follows Richard Long's permanent piece, Circle of Riverstones, which was made in 2019 and remains accessible to visitors elsewhere on the property.
