Daniel Buren solo exhibition inaugurates Galerie Georges-Pompidou in Anglet, France
11 May 2023
Inaugurating the new Galerie Georges-Pompidou exhibition space in Anglet, France, Daniel Buren presents the solo exhibition 'Natural light versus electric light, works in situ versus situated works', opening on 13 May.
Plays with colour and light are central to Buren's œuvre, and are brought together here in a new body of works, in a hang designed specifically according to the configuration of the gallery. Windows and doors at the back, sides and entrance to the space are covered with alternating colored transparent filters, as well as bands of white and transparent, installed by the artist himself.
The space is therefore perceived differently, day and night, due to lighting within and outside the gallery. Additionally, a series of sixteen works comprising screen-printed woven optical fibres, produced in 2013-14, are on show in Anglet for the first time.
The exhibition continues until 14 October 2023.
