Book launch and screenings for Garrett Bradley: Devotion
4 April 2024
To mark MIT Press and Lisson Gallery’s publication of Devotion, Metrograph Cinema presents a weekend dedicated to Bradley's work – through screenings, a book signing and a special panel discussion, presented by Field of Vision, taking place April 27 and April 28 in New York (No.7 Ludlow Street, New York City, NY 10002).
Metrograph welcomes Garrett Bradley for a curated focus, including several little-screened early shorts and her revelatory, Academy Award-nominated Time – the film which made her the first Black woman to win Best Director in Sundance US documentary category. Alongside the film programme, a lobby installation running throughout the month will showcase a slideshow of images from Devotion.
Bradley will be in attendance for all weekend screenings and copies of Devotion will be available for purchase at Metrograph, with Bradley singing on Saturday, April 27 at the reception following the screenings.
On Sunday, April 28, Bradley is joined by book contributors and artist filmmakers Sky Hopinka, Linda Goode Bryant, Alexandra Bell, Samora Pinderhughes and Dessane Lopez Cassell for a special panel discussion, hosted by Field of Vision, about Satyajit Ray’s Devi (1960) and its resonant themes, followed by a screening of the film. Tickets can be purchased here.
