On 28 September, Jorinde Voigt delivered an artist talk in conjunction with the unveiling of her monumental new work The Vertical commissioned for the Menil Drawing Institute. Voigt’s is the second in an ongoing series of wall drawings in the interior entry space of the Drawing Institute. Known primarily for her works on paper, Voigt’s precise methods of mark-making are influenced by musical scores, philosophic notional systems, and scientific diagrams with complex mapping structures.
