Anish Kapoor creates limited edition print for Maggie's Cancer Care
24 August 2020
Lisson Gallery is proud to work alongside the Anish Kapoor Studio and Maggie’s Cancer Centres to promote a new limited edition signed print by the artist, Glow for Maggie—available for purchase from 24 August 2020 via the link here. All proceeds will benefit Maggie’s to provide much needed emotional and practical support to people with cancer in what has been a devastating year.
Kapoor has generously donated 150 limited edition signed prints to be sold in aid of the cancer charity. The new print offers a powerful image of light surrounded by subtle overlapping layers of purple and dark violet. It is a polymer gravure type etching with the image debossed and with a border.
Glow for Maggie marks 25 years since the charity’s co-founder Maggie Keswick Jencks died having created the blueprint for a new type of cancer care at the first Maggie’s centre in Edinburgh. Her hope that people should not ‘lose the joy of living in the fear of dying’ has left a lasting legacy of 23 beautiful centres across the UK and three abroad, which offer free cancer support and information to people living with cancer, their family and friends.
Anish Kapoor said, “I am delighted to create this new print in support of Maggie’s. Maggie’s does such important work for those with cancer across the UK, particularly crucial in the wake of the Covid pandemic. Perhaps everyone who buys a print can feel as I do that we can help by working together.”
